Congratulations to our boys!

18 May 2018

Penygarn versus Griffithstown primary was a great game of competitive rugby showcasing some exceptional young talent. Throughout the thrilling fixture both teams played some fantastic rugby, eventually resulting in a hard fought 2 tries to nil win for Penygarn. This was Penygarn’s first win of the season and one that will be enjoyed for a very long time. All of the boys played should feel proud of their performance but two boys, in particular, stand out: Kye and Kai. Keep working hard! We've added photos to the gallery section of the website.

Year 5 Pupils and Tesco - The Official Launch of a Business Partnership

16 May 2018

Tuesday 15th May 2018 marked the official launch of a business partnership between Penygarn Community Primary and Tesco store in Pontypool. A group of Year 5 pupils recently spent a day at Tesco researching and recording relevant data. The pupils are then creating, marketing and selling a product they are in the process of developing which they describe as “A ‘must have’ for every shopper in the town.” Tesco store has kindly made a donation of £50 to ‘kick-start’ the project. The product is soon to be on sale in Pontypool market so keep an eye for further information.

Our choir are a real credit to our school!

04 Dec 2017

We have just received the following feedback from Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel after our choir performed at the Christmas event this weekend. Well done everyone - you are a credit to our school and we are all super proud of you! 'I would just like thank you and Penygarn Primary School for your participation in our Festive Afternoon tea party yesterday afternoon. Of all the guests I managed to speak to they were all very positive with their comments regarding the choir and praised them for their superb performance. Those pupils that I had the chance to speak to were extremely polite and well-mannered – a real asset to the school. I had the pleasure of watching the performance and you could really see all the hard work that had gone into planning for the event which they should all be really proud of themselves. I particularly liked the use of inflatable saxophones for the final song which really ended their performance brilliantly! I was also glad that we were lucky enough to have a visit from Father Christmas yesterday and he was able to take the time to chat with all the children and from what I gather they had all been good boys and girls and went away with a gift. I do hope that they enjoyed themselves and I would really hope that they would like to join us again next year when we finalise our festive calendar for 2018 as they would be a credit to our calendar!'
