At Penygarn Community Primary School we have introduced Attendance Ambassadors to not only improve attendance throughout school but to enable our pupils to role model outstanding school attendance and give a sense of responsibility to them ensuring that they can take ownership of class attendance and punctuality.
Attendance Ambassadors are chosen because they had the highest attendance in their class last year. They meet with the Headteacher weekly to enable them to confidently role model outstanding school attendance with their peers. They award weekly dojo points to anyone whose attendance has been above 95% for the week and all those children who have been punctual, update the whole school and class attendance displays and hold conversations with their class regarding attendance.
They are presented with a badge in our whole school celebration and are able to wear these with pride throughout the course of the year.
