Croeso i Water Voles!
Penygarn Community Primary School have been working very hard to develop our excellent Nurture setting. There have been lots of developments over the last few years and we are very proud of the high quality provision we deliver.
The staff in Water Voles are Mrs Robinson, Nurture Head and Mr Ryan.
Nurture provides a safe, caring and friendly environment for children who struggle in a mainstream setting. The children are able to work in smaller groups and have the individual attention that they need to build friendships, trust and to develop their self-esteem. Consistency and boundaries are very important to us in Water Voles and to help us with this we use a visual daily routine timetable, a behaviour timetable, a set of Nurture rules and a class contract. We teach Literacy, Numeracy, Science, P.E. and some Welsh based on individual pupil ability. Goals and targets are also identified for each pupil using INCERTS (Literacy and Numeracy) and the Boxall Profiles (social skills).
We are also providing small group work for those pupils across the school who need this: this includes yoga, social skills, outdoor fitness, self esteem and collaboration.
